“Once a quiet village, Beji has grown into a community-led tourism destination focused on culinary heritage and eco-education”
The Community of Beji Tourism Village
Beji Tourism Village was inaugurated in 2019.
Beji Village has long been known for its traditional, generation-to-generation tempe production. This background inspired the idea of creating a tempe-based educational tourism village in 2018. In 2019, the Tempe Festival was held to mark the official inauguration of Beji Tourism Village.
Beji Tourism Village is located at No. 75, Ir. Soekarno Street, Beji Village, Junrejo District, Batu City, East Java, Indonesia, best known as the vibrant 'Kampung Tempe' — where tradition meets taste.
In Beji Tourism Village, every visitor is invited to experience something truly special — make your own tempe, taste delicious snacks made from tempe, design batik with tempe patterns, and enjoy the rhythm of traditional dance performances. It's more than a visit — it's a cultural adventure.
The community of Beji Tourism Village carries out activities based on the situation. When tourists visit, they work together to prepare everything needed for the visit. When there are no tourists, they continue their daily routine by producing and selling tempe as part of their livelihood.
The facilities at Beji Tourism Village offer a simple and friendly village atmosphere. Some of the facilities are part of the local residents' homes and personal spaces, giving visitors a warm and close experience with the community. Although the facilities are still being improved, the friendly service and authentic village life are the main attractions that make Beji special.
More than just a tourist destination, Beji Tourism Village is an active contributor to the wider community, joining seminars, participating in competitions, and sharing our story as guest speakers across various forums. We believe in growing together through culture, learning, and connection.
